RESOURCES for MUSLIM WOMEN 2

I am usually horrified when some families abandon their kin due to religious or other differences. I have complied a list of resources (by no means extensive) for women who lose the support of family or who suffer abuse. Here is an initial list (feel free to share!):

CANADIAN COUNCIL OF MUSLIM WOMEN

The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) has launched its new gender-based violence project titled: Addressing barriers for Muslim women and girls facing GBV. This project will develop a systemic change strategy and tools to address barriers Muslim women face in dealing with GBV. This project will also provide services coordination for Muslim women facing GBV. [Note: They have a bursary program for women in financial emergencies.]

BRAVE BEGINNINGS

Brave Beginnings is a non-profit organization that matches women survivors of abuse, violence, or oppression with trained mentors, helping them rebuild their lives through friendship and support. Together, each pair embark on a year-long journey of mentorship, working together to help the survivor reach their personal goals, and providing support, friendship and empathy along the way.
